Saturday is a holiday for me! and I love it! I enjoy with my family, prefer to stay at home. I get up late and sip my cup of tea .....slowly unlike week days. I plan for a breakfast and also for lunch.
and i dont want to spend lot o f time...i have to spend some time with kids and also at my kitchen garden!
that is when simple rice goes well with Mungdal with papita and drumstick Alu fry. any Chatni adds more to the delicacy.
these are easy to cook, very less time consuming, yet irresistible taste and aroma!! So try out and enjoy!

Steam Rice : Usually in Odia family, the rice is cooked in open heavy bottomed pan( called handi). in the boiled water, add 250 grams of rice and cook till the grains are soft. drain the excess water and cover with a lid so that rice stays warm when you serve.
Mung Dal with Papaya: this is an aromatic preparation and is very healthy. This goes well with Steam Rice.
Drumstick alu Fry:
Ingredients: 6 drumsticks, peeled and cut into 3 inches length wise.
2 potatoes peeled,cut into two halfs and then lengthwise thin slices.
salt, turmeric, panch phodon 1 tea spoon, 2 dry chillis, vegetable oil.
Method:
1: Place a heavy bottomed pan to heat. Add oil 1 table spoon.
2: when it is hot, add the panch phodon and red chillis.
3: Once the seeds splutter, add the washed potatoes and drumsticks. Add salt to taste and turmeric.
4: mix it properly and cover with a  lid. Let it cook for 10 minutes or till the vegetables are cooked properlyin low/medium flame.
5: Garnish with coriander leaf and server hot.
Mango chutney: This yummy Chutney is just too difficult to resist!
Ingredients:
1 Raw Mango cut into cubes.
1 tea spoon paanch phodon seeds,
2 red chillis, salt to taste, turmeric powder 1/2 tea spoon.
1 tea spoon panch phodon seeds roasted and powdered.
jagri(guda) or sugar(chini) 2 table spoon.
1 tablespoon vegetable oil.
Method:
Place a heavy bottomed pan on flame. when hot add oil. once oil is heated, add the panch phodon seeds and red chillis.
2: once the seeds splutter, add mango cubes, tumeric powder and salt. Mix well, fry for 2 minutes in medium flame.
3: Add jagri or sugar. mix well. add a cup of water. Cover with a lid.
4: Let it cook for 10 minutes till the mangoes are soft and the gravy is consistent.
5: place it in garnishing vessel and sprinkle the panch podon powder on top.
