Sada Bhata, dali, machha bhaja, kobi alu bhaja( steam Rice, dal, Fish Fry and cauliflowerAlu Fry)

A Truely yummy lunch or dinner in any Odia family when She does not have much time, yet it is a fulfilling complete meal for the whole family. This combo fits for all informal occasions, even when you have n number of informal guests at home.

Last Sunday, my sister and her family visited us, my kids just love their company. I quickly arranged this dinner with in 40 minutes. We whole family could enjoy the evening watching CAR-2 movie together and had our dinner together too!

Steam Rice : Usually in Odia family, the rice is cooked in open heavy bottomed pan( called handi). in the boiled water, add 250 grams of rice and cook till the grains are soft. drain the excess water and cover with a lid so that rice stays warm when you serve.
Dal: I prepared Harhar Dal but any kind of dal goes well with Steam Rice.
CauliFlower Alu Fry:
Ingredients: 1 cauliflower washed, the florets cut into medium sizes.
2 potatoes peeled,cut into cubes, 1 tomato.
salt, turmeric, panch phodon 1 tea spoon, 2 dry chillis, vegetable oil.
Method:
1: Place a heavy bottomed pan to heat. Add oil 1 table spoon.
2: when it is hot, add the panch phodon and red chillis.
3: Once the seeds splutter, add the potatoe cubes and cauliflower florates. Add salt to taste and turmeric.
4: mix it properly and cover with a  lid. Let it cook for 10 minutes, add the tomato pieces. cook till the vegetables are soft but tender in low/medium flame.
5: Garnish with coriander leaf and serve hot.
Fish Fry:
Ingredients:
8 pieces of Fish washed, marinated with salt and turmeric powder.
1 tea spoon cumin seeds,
2 red chillis,
2 tablespoon vegetable oil.
Method:
Place a heavy bottomed pan on flame. when hot add oil. once oil is heated, add the cumin seeds and red chillis.
2: once the seeds splutter, add the fish pieces slowly but carefully as the oil may splutter too.
3: On high flame let it fry for 4 minutes. Now slowly turn the sides so that both the sides are cooked properly.
4: once both the sides are done, server hot.
