Muga Dali (Mung Dal tampered with garlic and mustard seed..nice aroma)
Muga Dali is a common recipe in any odiya home, which is the main side dish consumed with hot steamed rice.
Serves:4
Ingredients:

2 cups of Mung dal.
1 tea spoon mustard seeds(gota sorisa)
4 cloves of garlic grated.(rasuna chhecha)
salt, turmeric.
1 tsp clarified butter (ghia)
2 bayleaves(teja patra)
Process:

1: In a pan, roast the dry mung dal till it starts changing colour. Dont fry too much, as it will affect the smell and taste. Enjoy the nice aroma.
2:In a heavy bottomed pan, boil the mung dal with 3 times water. add salt, turmeric powder.
3:Cook until dal is cooked properly and dal is thick
4: In a heavy bottomed pan, heat clarified butter. Add mustard seeds. Once it starts fluterring, add grated garlic and once it starts changing colour, add the cooked dal.Keep on simmer for another 10 minutes. Serve hot as side dish with steamed rice and a curry.
